Chocolate And More Chocolate Make The Perfect Cookie

2 Jun

As you may or may not know, I am a HUGE Disney World fan – I love it so much I have a whole blog – Living In A Grown Up World – dedicated to Disney and how it’s a great place for not only kids and families but for adults too! As much as I love Disney, I cannot afford to go there as much as I wish I could, so one of the ways I keep the Disney Magic alive between trips is by recreating Disney Desserts at home

There are plenty of Disney Cookbooks out there that inspire me, but when it comes to desserts, I turn to the extensive list of Disney dessert recipes over at Magical Recipes

Today I am recreating the Gourmet Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies that can be found at one of my favorite dessert spots – at the Main Street Bakery in Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park

Gourmet Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Makes 4 dozen cookies
1. 1 cup Butter
2. 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
3. 1 cup Sugar
4. 2 large Eggs
5. 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla
6. 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
7. 1 1/2 cups Flour
8. 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
9. 1/4 teaspoon Salt
10. 18 oz Semisweet chocolate chunks
1. Preheat oven 375 F
2. Cream butter, sugars, vanilla, and cocoa powder
3. Stir in remaining ingredients and blend well
4. Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes
5. Drop dough by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet about 2″ apart
6. Bake until cookies are set, 5-8 mins
7. Cool slightly and remove from pan

Ingredients – assembled and ready to do their duty

Double Chocolate Dough – ready for action!

Into the oven they go….

The smell is killing me…

The only change I made to the recipe was that I used semi sweet chips instead of chunks, so aesthetically they might not look as pretty as the chunks, but they sure as heck taste good!

Pair these bad boys with a tall glass of milk or sandwich some vanilla ice cream between two of them and you have yourself an amazing treat! The cookies remind me of another chocolate cookie I have made before – they have a rich chocolate taste and the chips add that extra texture and flavor component that chocolate fans everywhere will love!

YUM! I especially love these warm right out of the oven….a winner for sure!
